Graphing with K

We love graphing!! Kindergarten graphed our favorite thanksgiving foods! We counted, wrote numbers, decided which were odd and even, and added the total using tally marks.

The Thanksgiving Story

Kindergarten telling the thanksgiving story using bead bracelets

Story beading is a creative way not only to learn how to tell and remember details of a story but also to work on fine motor skills, plus children love it! Students placed the colored beads on their bracelets to represent key elements of the story (ex. orange for the pumpkins they shared during their feast or blue to represent the ocean the pilgrims sailed to get to the new land).

Kindergarten presents Macbeth! December 5, 11 am

The Kindergarteners have been practicing their lines and learning to do a convincing (but safe) stage fall in drama classes lately. Macbeth is the first play they perform in Lower School Shakespeare Festival; next year in First Grade, they'll tackle The Tempest, and by Fifth Grade, they're ready for the complex political drama of Julius Caesar. This early exposure to the works of Shakespeare gives ACDS students a familiarity with great literature that serves them well throughout their lives. The show is Wednesday, December 5 at 11am.
